feed update

standard feed iconNo, not my feeding update. Har har. I updated the RSS feed on orangehat and am now serving my feed from FeedBurner

It's something I have been meaning to do so I can keep better track of feeds and test out FeedBurner a little bit for some other projects. I have removed the old feeds and am redirecting any requests for them to the new address. So if you haven't update already, you can update your subscription by subscribing to http://feeds.feedburner.com/orangehat

I know I have friends who are reading this and scratching their heads thinking, "WTF?" I'll give a quick summary. RSS feeds (a.k.a. news feeds, web feeds, etc.) are a way of subscribing to lots of different content for you to read in one place. So say you have 10 websites you visit on a regular basis to see what new stuff has been posted. Instead of having to visit each one, and scroll through to see what you may have missed only to be disappointed that KP hasn't posted in weeks... You can use an RSS reader that manages all of your subscriptions, checks the sites for you and notifies you when they have been updated. You can then see the headlines and some or all of the new post from the website right in your reader. If you are inclined, you can then visit the website with 1 easy click.

There are RSS reader programs you can download, or you can use websites like Google Reader, which is what I use. They are very similar to email programs, but instead of receiving email, you're receiving feed content.

There's a very good explanation of feeds on the FeedBurner website.
